SUMMARY:Appropriate - EastLine Theatre
DESCRIPTION:This April: a provocative new play from Pulitzer Prize winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Tickets available now at eastline.ludus.com \n🦗 \nIt’s summer\, the cicadas are singing\, and every estranged member of the Lafayette clan has descended upon the family’s crumbling Arkansas homestead to settle the accounts of their newly-dead patriarch. As his three adult children sort through a lifetime of hoarded mementos\, they collide over clutter\, debt\, and a contentious family history. But after a disturbing discovery surfaces among their father’s possessions\, the reunion takes a turn for the explosive\, unleashing a series of crackling surprises and long-buried secrets. \n🦗 \nPerformances will take place at the BACCA Arts Center in Lindenhurst starting April 11th and running through April 26th. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at eastline.ludus.com. More information is available at eastlinetheatre.org or by calling 516-749-5047. \nAppropriate by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins\, is directed by John Torres and presented by EastLine Theatre in partnership with the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts\, costumes are by Wendy Grimm\, stage management is by Michelle Osojnak. The cast of Appropriate features Joey Carlino\, Cordelia Comando\, Susan Dorsey\, Harrison Grimm\, Megan Jeter\, David Edward Keen\, Matthew Rubenfeld\, and Sarah Elizabeth Spagnuolo \nStep-free access to the BACCA Arts Center is available via the front door. Feel free to contact us with any access questions at info@eastlinetheatre.org. \nPlease be aware this play includes racial slurs\, discussion of racial violence\, sexual violence\, and death. For more specific content warnings\, feel free to contact us at info@eastlinetheatre.org. The performance is recommended for ages thirteen and up. \n“One of the boldest\, bravest theatre companies on Long Island\,” according to Fire Island News\, EastLine Theatre aims to create theatre in unlikely spaces while re-examining the canon\, exploring modern plays\, and bringing original works to the attention of the community. \nEastLine returns to the BACCA Arts Center after February’s performances of Witness for the Prosecution. In recent years EastLine has produced a “visceral and intellectually engaging” Long Island premiere of The Hours Are Feminine; a Treasure Island that BroadwayWorld said was “bursting at the seams with imagination”; and a production of In the Next Room by Sarah Ruhl that Long Island Theatre Scene said “raises the bar of creativity for all theaters.” EastLine will return to BACCA Arts Center for Hipsanic Heritage Month with Yerma. \nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1254047493497549/?event_time_id=1254047516830880
