We are so grateful for Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home. From the moment we arrived, we felt a sense of peace and warmth. The building was welcoming, accessible, and full of natural light—it felt more like a celebration of life than a funeral home. The staff greeted us kindly, and Mr. Spencer even took the time to show my 10-year-old son around, answering his questions with respect. Accessibility was also very important to us as I have a son in a wheelchair, and they made sure every detail supported our needs.
Peter was truly a blessing throughout the process. He was patient, kind, and compassionate, meeting each of my family members where they were in their grief. He guided us through every step, from planning to coordinating with the church and cemetery, always allowing us the freedom to make the service personal to my father. When my father passed, the staff who came to our home treated him with dignity and respect, pausing to let us say goodbye before he was taken. That moment gave us peace we will never forget.
Our family is large, and every aunt, uncle, and cousin commented that this was the nicest funeral home they had ever been to. One relative even said, “It doesn’t feel like you’re at a funeral home.” We cannot thank Peter and the entire team enough for giving us the space, respect, and compassion to celebrate our father’s life the way he deserved.

I wasn’t looking forward to making arrangements for my dad but you made it so easy. I felt so comfortable and at peace talking with you. Your recommendations were exactly what we needed to give my dad the most respectful send off. I didn’t feel like I was talking to a salesman. It felt like family, working with me, to get through this rough time. I’d definitely use them again…..hopefully not too soon.

I can’t thank Charlie Spencer and the entire staff at Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home enough. During the difficult time of my father’s passing, Charlie—being a retired police officer—really connected with me as a fellow member of the Suffolk County Police Department. He made sure my family was cared for every step of the way.
From helping us with all the paperwork to allowing us to have food catered between services, everything was handled with compassion and professionalism. In one of the hardest moments of our lives, they gave us a beautiful and respectful farewell for our father. Highly recommend.
