It was another action-packed weekend under the Friday night lights as teams from across the Town of Babylon took the field in Suffolk County Division play. From thrilling comebacks to heartbreaking finishes, local athletes showed grit, speed, and hometown pride. Hereβs how the week shook out for Lindenhurst, Copiague, North Babylon, Deer Park, West Babylon, Wyandanch, Amityville, and Babylon Village.
πΎ Lindenhurst Bulldogs Battle to the End
Lindenhurst (3β1) suffered its first loss of the season in a nail-biter against Sachem East, 14β13, on Friday night. Quarterback Mikey Russo connected for a 20-yard touchdown pass and added a 2-yard rushing score, but a blocked punt midway through the fourth quarter flipped the game. Despite the narrow defeat, the Bulldogsβ defense stood strong, and the team remains a Division I contender heading into midseason play. Expect the Green and White to come out swinging next week.
π¦ Copiague Eagles Soar in Stunning Comeback
Saturday belonged to Roger Rowe and the Copiague Eagles (2β2), who stormed back from a 14-point deficit to defeat Centereach, 27β17, at home. Rowe put on a show, racking up 96- and 65-yard rushing touchdowns and tossing a 54-yard bomb to Jayden Herrera. Herrera also contributed 70 yards on the ground and another score. Defensively, Keon Williams snagged two interceptions while Charles Williams added one of his own. The Eaglesβ resilience lit up the hometown crowd β a much-needed momentum boost for the seasonβs second half.
πΆ North Babylon Bulldogs Fall on the Road
It was a tough outing for North Babylon (2β2) as they fell to Bellport, 40β7. The Bulldogsβ lone highlight came from Dominic Prestano, who caught a 16-yard touchdown pass. Bellportβs explosive run game proved too much, but North Babylonβs physical defense and disciplined play will keep them in contention. The Bulldogs return home next week, eager to bounce back in front of their loyal fans.
π¦ Deer Park Falcons Flash Big-Play Potential
Deer Park (1β3) may have come up short in a 33β6 road loss to Northport, but they delivered a highlight-reel moment when Christian Myrick took a kickoff 83 yards to the house for a touchdown. The Falcons showed flashes of energy, and with continued improvement on both sides of the ball, theyβre poised to turn close calls into wins as the season progresses.
π¦ West Babylon Eagles Grounded by Newfield
The West Babylon Eagles (1β3) couldnβt keep pace with Newfieldβs rushing attack, falling 28β7. Despite the loss, the Eagles showed moments of promise, with strong defensive stops in the first half and consistent effort across all four quarters. Newfieldβs backfield tandem combined for nearly 300 rushing yards, but West Babylonβs players continue to battle β a characteristic that has defined their program for decades.
β‘ Wyandanch Warriors Show Fight Against Islip
In Division III action, Wyandanch (0β4) fell to Islip, 48β20, but the Warriors made their presence known. Their offense found rhythm, posting three touchdowns against a tough Islip defense led by quarterback Jack Raoβs five passing scores. Despite the defeat, Wyandanchβs determination and athleticism continue to shine as they work to build momentum heading into midseason matchups.
π₯ Amityville Warriors Battle Hard in Division III
Amityville (0β4) faced off against Comsewogue and showed flashes of power despite a 41β18 loss. Quarterback play and rushing consistency gave the Warriors opportunities to score, and their physical defense made the opponent earn every yard. As the young squad continues to gel, expect Amityville to play spoiler roles later this season β a proud tradition for this resilient community.
π€ Babylon Panthers Stay Undefeated
The Babylon Panthers (4β0) continued their dominance in Division IV with a 24β7 win over Mount Sinai. Star running back Aidan Winter was unstoppable β 210 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns, plus a 40-yard reception. Kai Jankow added 141 rushing yards and an interception, while Zak Vasquez led the defense with 14 tackles. The Panthersβ mix of explosive offense and ironclad defense has them looking like championship material once again.
