There is just something about NY and NJ diners. They're iconic. Great food, great service with a menu that has everything under the sun. The Olympic diner fits into this iconic category. When we arrived it was fairly crowded, but the dinning room was immense and we were seated immediately. Service was spot on with a waitress coming by and giving us our menus in short order. Busboy also came by our table when we were first seated to provide water.
Once we place our orders they came quickly. My wife loves Eggs Benedict and she was not disappointed with this serving. It was perfect. Tasty with delicious home fries. My order was Two eggs scrambled, bacon, home fries and rye toast. Either they added an extra egg to the order or the eggs were jumbo sized. An enormous serving. No complaints here! Bacon was super crispy. Loved it. Home fries? Same as my wife's...tasty. Usually the toast that comes with the meal is no big deal, however this was different. Don't know who they get their rye bread from, but i hope they never change brand/vendor. Nice tasting rye bread. Service was good as well. Our waitress checked in on us to make sure everything was ok and we didn't have to flag her down for coffee refills. Nice Art Deco design to the diner. The ambience was a nice added feature that complimented the whole meal.
Good food, generous servings, good service, extensive menu and a nice dining atmosphere. The Olympic Diner is a winner.

We have visited this diner several times for breakfast and have enjoyed it, however we went today and it wasn't a great experience. Aside from the price increase in the menu, paying for food that you hope to enjoy, and don't is unacceptable. Please if you decide to have breakfast I ask that you please check your potatoes and overall food! Our home fries tasted spoiled(sour, tangy tste), we told the server who did take our plates however only 2-3minutes we get the plate stating they were a fresh batch. She told us it would take some time, but like i said 2-3 minutes we get the plate back with a new fresh batch of potatoes? Very doubtful! Since they were crispy the outer looked fine but you eat in between and spoiled taste. My husband and sister in-law ordered the healthy omelet which has egg whites and boy did that omelet smell! Come on even the omelette has an odor, like rotten egg! After that I had no appetite to even finish my western omelette! We are not ones to make a commotion at the restaurant and because we were with our children we opted to wait to speak to the manager. Unfortunately that wasn't of much help, she insisted the potatoes are just seasoned differently! Like please, spoiled food even with seasonings taste bad period! When you eat here make sure your taste buds are 100% and don't keep quiet like we did or you'll be stuck with the bill. Don't let the appearance fool you!

My extended family members usually like coming here for their diner food when visiting and I came here for the first time with them recently on a Sunday afternoon around 12pm. The parking lot was PACKED. Luckily we were able to find a spot. Both the inside and outside looks like a typical diner.
There were a few people waiting but we were seated right away, maybe due to a smaller party size. We were originally seated in a small booth but later someone else came and asked if we wanted to go to a round table which was much better. We were very cramped in the booth (4 adults and a small child). Only bad thing is the A/C was blasting right above the round table so bring a sweater to be safe.
The waiter was very attentive and nice. Everyone was happy with their order. I ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs (you can pick how you want them - I chose scrambled) which came with home fries and toast (white, rye, whole wheat and I think one more choice).. I thought the home fries tasted a little "off" but I didn't get sick from it so maybe it was the seasoning? The corned beef hash however was absolutely delicious! All the portions were huge, enough to be two meals so I guess you get what you pay for as I thought menu items were a little pricey.
I know they have a bathroom but I did not utilize it. Overall, I would recommend this diner for their variety of food choices, portion sizes and good service.

I cant wait to go back! Good coffee. I had a farmers omelet and it was awesome. The girlfriend had the lemon Blueberry pancakes and that was incredible. Her son had the turkey soup & he loved it. I cant wait to go back & try other items. Service was fast and courteous.

Another typical NY diner, but a decent one with a wide selection, friendly staff and great food. Came here for lunch and the price might be a bit much, but what isn't? The portions were large and the food was of good quality. The service was a bit lacking but not in friendliness; it was busy. The atmosphere is relaxed. I plan on returning especially if I'm in the area to try some other items too
