Revelries & Celebrations in Babylon, Independents/Independence Week ~ June 30th through July 4th, Anno 2025

29 June 2025

In mine own day, I, your humble servant George Washington, saw that this isle did bear witness to strife, courage, and clandestine acts of liberty. Now, in this blessed year, let us trade musket fire for music, and hardship for harmony — and gather, as free folk, to celebrate thine noble independence.

🌤️ The Outlook from Heaven’s Firmament: Weather in Babylon Towne, June 30 – July 4

Good citizens, lend thine eyes to the sky and prepare thy plans with Providence in mind. The heavens this week offer sun, cloud, and storm in measured turn — as fickle and fine as liberty herself. Below findeth thee the forecast, divined by our modern almanacs and trusted meteorological instruments.

  • 📅 Mon, June 3082°F – Fair skies with modest cloud. A mere 10% chance of rain; the day bodes well for marketplace errands and camp commencements.
  • 📅 Tue, July 1 ⛈️ 83°F – Take heed! Thunder is forecast with a 60% chance of rain. Festivities may require shelter beneath canvas or within tavern walls.
  • 📅 Wed, July 286°F – The sun doth return in earnest. Only 20% chance of rain. A right good day for artistry and amusement under open sky.
  • 📅 Thu, July 387°F – Warm and unsettled. Expect tempests by twilight, with 30% chance of rain. Keep thy tricorne dry and thy spirits high.
  • 📅 Fri, July 4 🌞 84°F – Rejoice! The Glorious Fourth shall dawn with golden sun and but a 5% chance of rain. A fine omen for our nation’s Jubilee!

📘 Ye Guide to Festivities and Proceedings

For the benefit of townsfolk, tradesmen, and patriots alike, herein lies a proper index to this week’s jubilations. Let this guide serve thee as lantern and map through the mirthful days ahead.

📜 A Preamble to Ye Week’s Events: On Liberty, Labor, and the Spirit of Babylon

To the Stalwart Citizens of Babylon Towne and its Neighboring Hamlets,

I, General George Washington, now removed from the din of war and the weight of command, write to thee across the corridors of time — for this week, which stretcheth from the 30th of June through the 4th of July, is most deserving of observance. Aye, it is a week of Independence in every sense — a jubilee not only for our nation, but for those brave souls who have taken up the mantle of enterprise and forged livelihoods through toil, trade, and tenacity.

I speak, of course, of the yeomen, merchants, artisans, and innovators who constitute the backbone of your Babylonian economy. They are thy neighbors, thy kin, thy friends — and during this Independents Week, hosted by the noble folk at BabylonLocal.com, these local champions of commerce shall be honored with digital fanfare and publick recognition. Their courage is no less admirable than that of the militiaman who once took up arms for liberty.

Yet the celebration doth not end with commerce alone. From humble lemonade stands to joyous concerts by the sea, from children’s camps to solemn honors bestowed at grand halls, there shall be a diverse tapestry of events stitched across the week. Some of thee may gather in person, others may partake from afar — but all may rejoice under the banner of freedom hard-won.

And though I did not personally set foot in thy towne during the time of war, my scouts oft relayed tales of Babylon’s hearty people, its maritime cunning, and its quiet loyalty to the cause of independence. It is to such a place that I now commend this listing of diversions, for the delight of free men, women, and families throughout the land.

In Liberty and Light,

— Gen. G. Washington

✍️ A Farewell from the General’s Desk

My Good People of Babylon,

As ye conclude this reading and prepare thy hearts for celebration, I bid thee remember: Liberty is not merely a relic of history, but a living spirit — carried forth in the acts of community, the bonds of neighborly care, and the courage of those who build anew, day by day.

From bustling markets to beachside melodies, from civic tributes to joyous parades, thou hast before thee a week most worthy of attention. Whether ye venture forth to a concert under the stars or support a local merchant through Independents Week, know that each action, however small, upholdeth the dream first declared in 1776.

May your days be filled with honor, mirth, and good weather. And should ye see a lad in tricorn and sash speaking boldly of Babylon’s blessings — offer him a lemonade, and tell him George sent thee.

Yours in Liberty and Fellowship,
General George Washington
