This summer, art comes to life in North Babylon! The Long Island Public Arts Festival (LIPAF) is transforming Phelps Lane Park into a vibrant outdoor gallery filled with over 40 life-size works by artists from across New York State.
Running from June 13 through September 1, the festival is free, immersive, and designed for all ages — perfect for kids, couples, and curious minds alike.

🖼️ Why It’s the Perfect Day Out
Whether you’re pushing a stroller, holding hands on a first date, or snapping selfies with friends, this outdoor exhibit is the ultimate summer vibe. Walk through the park and discover bold murals, striking portraits, and mind-bending abstract works — all up close and life-size.
“We aim to create an immersive experience where even a several-inch-tall piece of art can be enjoyed as a life-size installation,” says Jose Tutiven, Founder of Colored Colors. “Art belongs in the community.”
🎉 Don’t Miss the Opening Celebration – Friday, June 13
The festival’s official Opening Celebration is this Friday, June 13, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It’s an art party in the park — with live music, community vibes, and the chance to meet the artists behind the work.
“Many of our featured artists attend,” says Tutiven. “It’s a rare opportunity for the public to meet, converse, and forge personal connections with the creators behind the work.”
🧒 Kid-Friendly & Interactive Art Experiences
This festival goes beyond just “look but don’t touch.” Kids (and kids-at-heart) can participate in hands-on experiences like graffiti walls and chalk art — a chance to make their own masterpieces alongside the pros.
Whether your little one wants to doodle or just run between the installations, there’s room to play and create.
🌅 Peaceful Strolls and Beautiful Views
If you’re looking for a more low-key moment, stroll around the perimeter of the park near the fountains where the art meets water, breeze, and sunlight. It’s an ideal way to wind down a busy day or enjoy a laid-back summer date night.
“This festival demonstrates that public spaces can be transformed through art — offering not disturbance, but rather profound beautification,” Tutiven explains.
