A Legacy of Hope: The Anthony Todaro Foundation
In 2007, Tom and Rosemarie Todaro experienced a heart-wrenching loss when their son, Anthony Todaro, passed away from a cancer-related illness at the young age of 23. Despite their grief, the Todaros found a way to honor Anthony’s memory and fulfill his wish to give back to others. They established the Anthony Todaro Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop Hospital.
Over the years, the foundation has made a significant impact by contributing to the Cancer Center, providing direct support to patients, offering scholarships, and sponsoring special events. The Todaros’ dedication to their son’s legacy has brought hope and joy to countless individuals and families affected by cancer.
A Community United: The Annual Softball Game and Barbecue
One of the foundation’s most anticipated events is the Annual Anthony Todaro Foundation Softball Game and Barbecue. This year, the event will be held on Sunday, May 1st, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Firemen’s Field in Deer Park. The community is invited to come together for a day of fun, food, and friendly competition, all in support of a worthy cause.
“The community has been so great and responsive to our foundation. We have friends and family who are always involved, and the business community is really great. We have food donated by Miller’s Ale House, Texas Road House, Greek Krave, and more. Breakfast will be provided by Panera Bread. [We have] over a hundred baskets that we’re gonna be raffling off,” said Rosemarie Todaro.
A Friendly Rivalry: Deer Park vs North Babylon Chambers
This year’s softball game promises to be especially exciting, as two of the newest business organizations in the area will be competing against each other. The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce will go head-to-head with the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce in a spirited game of softball. Both organizations are in their first year, so this is a chance for them to prove themselves and showcase their community spirit.
The game has been dubbed “Scarlet vs Blue,” and spectators are eager to see which team will emerge victorious. As members of both Chambers, the Todaros are staying neutral and looking forward to an enjoyable game.
Giving Hopes and Dreams: The Impact of the Foundation
The Anthony Todaro Foundation’s mission goes beyond fundraising. It’s about giving hopes and dreams to the patients of the Cancer Center. Through their events and contributions, the Todaros are making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
“We want to give hopes and dreams to the patients of the Cancer Center,” said Tom Todaro. The foundation’s efforts have brought smiles to the faces of patients and have provided much-needed support to families during difficult times.
