In a heartwarming show of support for Long Island youth and families, The Sophia Valsamos Foundation (TSVF) recently donated wellness kits to the Family Service League (FSL). The donation reinforces both organizations’ mission to uplift and empower individuals through emotional wellness, especially those navigating crisis, trauma, or high stress.
Wellness That Heals: What’s in the Kits?
Each purple TSVF wellness kit is carefully packed with sensory tools, mindfulness activities, journaling materials, and emotional health resources. These curated items provide comfort and coping strategies for children and families in critical support programs run by FSL, including:
- Alternatives for Youth
- Family Connect
- Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS)
- Recess
- Diagnostic Assessment and Stabilization Hub (DASH)
- Bay Shore and Mastic Clinics
- Home Base
- Children’s Care Coordination
- Alcohol Prevention Program
“TSVF is rooted in the belief that emotional wellness tools should be accessible, practical and empowering,” said Chris Valsamos, Board Director of TSVF. “We’re honored to support Family Service League’s life-changing work by helping the young people in their care build emotional strength, resilience and self-awareness.”
Gratitude and Impact
Robyn Berger-Gaston, LCSW, Division Director at Family Service League, reflected on the importance of the gift: “These wellness kits represent more than just items; they are a tangible message of compassion and hope.”
With over 60 programs across 20+ locations, Family Service League reaches more than 60,000 Long Islanders each year—offering a lifeline to those facing addiction, housing instability, mental health struggles, and more.
