⚽ Deer Park Falcons – Noah Romero Ignites the Season

First up, let’s talk about the gridiron gladiators of the soccer field, the Deer Park Falcons, and their opening-day hero, Noah Romero! Picture this: a nail-biting, scoreless opener against East Hampton, the clock ticking down towards halftime, and the ball heading out of bounds. But then, from the sidelines, a voice cuts through the air – Coach Ryan Argenziano, screaming for Romero to chase that ball! Romero, with the instincts of a seasoned veteran, knew it was their “last opportunity” and a “huge momentum shift” was on the line.

And did he deliver? You bet he did! He sent that ball perfectly in front, leading to Adrian Islas knocking it in with a mere three seconds to go before the half! Coach Argenziano later said, “In that halftime, you could feel that was the moment where now they’re like, We’re going to get going here”.

But Romero wasn’t done there! The senior forward/midfielder then set up the NEXT goal early in the second half, completing his two assists to kick off the Falcons’ season with a dominant 3-1 Suffolk League II win. Coach Argenziano heaps praise on Romero, calling him a “great player,” an “outstanding technical player,” a “great [hustler],” and a true “leader for this team”. With eight starters back from a postseason team, Romero and the Falcons are hungry for more this year!

⚾ North Babylon – Tobias Young, Athlete & Entrepreneur

Over in North Babylon, we’ve got a rising star who’s not just dominating on the baseball diamond but also inspiring his entire community: Tobias Young! This sixteen-year-old phenom has been named one of the Top 5 finalists in the Youth Athlete of the Year competition, with a chance to be featured in Sports Illustrated. Talk about a big-league opportunity!

Young, a dominant pitcher for North Babylon High School and the Long Island Dodgers Nation travel baseball team, etched his name into local history on June 28, 2025, by throwing his fourth career no-hitter and securing his team’s third consecutive championship victory! This young man is a winner, folks, a true leader on the mound and an inspiration off it!

But Tobias is more than baseball. He’s also an honor student and a small business owner, running his own barbershop that’s become a community hub. As he puts it: “This recognition isn’t just about baseball… It’s about representing my school, my team, and my community — and showing other young people that you can chase your dreams in sports, in school, and in business at the same time”.

This lifelong Lindenhurst resident is making waves in the world of competitive diving, earning multiple national titles and representing the United States in international competitions. AJ is part of the prestigious AAU National Team and has his eyes on the 2028 Olympic Trials!
