Memorial Day Week in Babylon: Your Local Game Plan

Memorial Day Week has arrived in the Town of Babylon, and this week’s mission begins with remembrance.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to inclement Weather many of today’s Parades have been cancelled. At the time of writing this I know for sure that the Parades for both Babylon Village and North Babylon Have been cancelled, however, many remembrances have been moved indoors. Unfortunately, I don’t have information about all of them at this time and have to ask you to reach out to Town or Village Offices

Before the music, food, beach nights, festivals, book sales, happy hours, and summer kickoff plans, we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to our country. Memorial Day is not just the unofficial start of summer. It is a day of gratitude, memory, and respect.

Then, once the flags are raised, the wreaths are placed, and the community has gathered in honor, the week continues with a full local lineup across Lindenhurst, Copiague, Deer Park, Babylon, West Babylon, Farmingdale, West Gilgo Beach, Amityville, Wyandanch, and beyond.

Consider this your local field guide for the week ahead. Review the orders. Pick your route. Support local. And we’ll see you around town.

Memorial Day Mission: Parades & Ceremonies

Monday’s first assignment is simple: show up, stand together, and remember.

Across the Town of Babylon area, local communities are gathering for Memorial Day parades and ceremonies honoring those who served and sacrificed. Whether you attend in Lindenhurst, Copiague, Deer Park, or Babylon Village, this is the part of the week where the whole town falls into formation.

Respectful reminder: bring the kids, bring the flags, bring your gratitude — and remember why the day matters.

Monday, May 25: Memorial Day Roll Call

Monday begins with ceremonies, parades, and remembrance, then moves into family-friendly activities, waterfront music, and summer-kickoff energy.

Memorial Day Parades & Community Gatherings

Family, Art & Afternoon Activities

Live Music & Waterfront Patrol

Monday’s marching orders: honor the fallen, support the ceremonies, then choose your afternoon deployment: art studio, waterfront music, dinner music, or beach-town summer kickoff.

Tuesday, May 26: Reset, Refuel & Report for Duty

Tuesday is the post-holiday regroup: art, lobster, yoga, beach cleanup, and live music. A strong civilian recovery plan.

Tuesday’s field note: the TOBAY Beach Clean-up is a strong way to serve locally after a weekend built around remembrance. Protect the beaches, protect the birds, and leave the shoreline better than you found it.

Wednesday, May 27: Midweek Morale Boost

Wednesday brings music, theater, bingo, beach yoga, and enough live entertainment to keep the week moving like a well-drilled unit.

Wednesday’s morale report: from Grateful Dead jams to New Wave at the beach, Harlem Renaissance-inspired soul, and Billy Joel/Elton John bingo, this is a midweek entertainment supply drop.

Thursday, May 28: Festival Formation & Local Support

Thursday’s lineup brings education, books, food, culture, painting, tribute music, and soul-dance energy. The weekend is not here yet, but the advance party has arrived.

Thursday’s orders: support the trades, raid the book sale, hit the Greek Festival, then choose your evening operation: painting, wine-bar music, Rolling Stones tribute, or soul-dance beach vibes.

Friday, May 29: Weekend Launch Sequence

Friday is the full deployment. Community events, fundraisers, kids’ activities, teen movie night, live music, tribute acts, punk rock, happy hour, healing classes, and nightlife all hit the calendar at once.

Community, Fundraisers & Family Missions

Food, Drinks & Local Nightlife

Live Music & Stage Operations

Wellness, Film & Recovery Unit

Friday’s final command: choose your squad. Family squad, music squad, food squad, fundraiser squad, wellness squad, or “I need loud guitars immediately” squad. Babylon has orders for everyone.

Final Salute

This week begins with remembrance and moves into everything local life does best: showing up, gathering together, feeding people, making music, supporting causes, giving kids something fun to do, and keeping the community connected.

So attend a Memorial Day ceremony. Thank a veteran. Remember the fallen. Then keep the local spirit moving all week long.

See you around town.
