Forty-six events, Monday through Friday. Six libraries opened their fall season at once โ€” and the forecast still thinks itโ€™s summer.

Fall officially starts on September 22nd. Nobody told the forecast. We’ve got sun all five days, highs running from 71 to 79, and not a single washout on the board โ€” the kind of week that makes you want to eat dinner outside and pretend the calendar is a suggestion.

Meanwhile, indoors, our libraries have quietly kicked off their fall program season all at once. Babylon, Copiague, Lindenhurst, West Babylon, Deer Park and Wyandanch are running something like forty programs between Monday and Friday โ€” yoga, quilting, decoupage, Italian storytime, a bilingual women’s group, Medicaid enrollment help, a paint night, and a young-adult cooking class that makes apple pie bread. A lot of it is already waitlisted, which tells you how the town feels about September.

So here’s the week: go outside while it’s holding, and get your name on a list for the good stuff before it fills.

Weather This Week

  • Monday 9/14 โ€” High near 75. Mostly sunny.
  • Tuesday 9/15 โ€” High near 71. Sunny.
  • Wednesday 9/16 โ€” High near 75. Sunny.
  • Thursday 9/17 โ€” High near 78. Mostly sunny.
  • Friday 9/18 โ€” High near 79. Partly sunny.

Five dry days in a row. Forecast via the National Weather Service, updated Monday morning.

The Rundown

Villages in play this week: Babylon, Lindenhurst, Amityville, Copiague, Deer Park, West Babylon, Wyandanch and the West Gilgo / Tobay shoreline.

Categories running hot: Classes & Workshops (far and away the biggest bucket), Health & Wellness, Arts & Crafts, Live Music, Community & Civic Meetings, and Food & Drink. Monday is the monster โ€” twenty-five separate things happening. Wednesday and Thursday are quiet by comparison. Friday is when the music comes back.

A note on prices: library programs are listed without a fee on their own calendars unless noted, and where a fee is published we’ve named it. Registration status is as of Sunday, September 13 โ€” the waitlists move fast.

Friday Evening Informal Gathering at Tobay

Friday, September 18, 4:00โ€“7:00 PM at The Boat Yard, 1 Ocean Parkway, West Gilgo Beach. No ticket, no registration, no agenda โ€” just the last properly warm Friday of the season on the water, with a 79-degree afternoon behind it. If you only do one thing off this list, do this one. Then, if you’ve still got it in you, Krush plays the same spot at 7:30.

Wednesday, September 16

A quiet one โ€” three things on the board, and 75 and sunny outside, so consider this the town’s officially sanctioned day to do nothing in particular.

๐Ÿ“… See all events for Wednesday here.

Thursday, September 17

Also light, and also gorgeous โ€” 78 and mostly sunny. What’s on the calendar is mostly civic: two village boards meeting on the same night, in two different villages. If you’ve got an opinion about something being built near you, this is the evening to go say so.

๐Ÿ“… See all events for Thursday here.

Friday, September 18

And here’s the payoff. Seventy-nine degrees, the music comes back, and the waterfront does what it does.

Looking Ahead to the Weekend

Saturday is stacked: farmers markets in Amityville (9 AMโ€“1 PM) and Lindenhurst (10 AMโ€“2 PM), Drag Bingo at Amityville Music Hall, a quilting workshop and the From Italy with Love concert with Salvatore Chiarelli at Deer Park Library, DJ Mike Torres and That 70’s Band at Salt Shack, WCS at Toomey’s Tavern, and a five-band rock show at Amityville Music Hall. Sunday is looking like a genuine day of rest โ€” nothing on the calendar yet.

The full weekend guide lands in your inbox Friday morning. Or get a head start here.

List Your Business on Babylon Local

โญ Are You a Babylon Local Icon?

Two questions.

  1. Do you serve the Town of Babylon area?
  2. Are you rated 4 stars or above on Google?

If you said yes to both, you belong on Babylon Local โ€” and you may already be on it. The directory now holds 1,178 businesses across the Town of Babylon: Amityville, Babylon Village, Copiague, Deer Park, East Farmingdale, Lindenhurst, North and West Babylon, Wheatley Heights, Wyandanch, and the beaches.

(No Google profile yet? Reach out anyway. Happy to help you get one set up โ€” that is genuinely the first thing to fix.)

The 4-star bar is not us being precious. It is the whole point. It is what makes the directory worth something to the person reading it โ€” every business in it cleared the same bar, so a resident can trust the list instead of wading through it.

What a Founding Icon listing is

One hundred of those 1,178 will carry the Founding Icon badge. Permanent, first hundred only, issued once.

An Icon listing is your listing, upgraded:

  • Top placement and an enhanced profile โ€” your photos, hours, contact, links
  • Your Google reviews, map and Place images pulled onto the listing
  • A full Google Business Profile optimization
  • AI review responses, so nothing sits unanswered
  • An online visibility report โ€” what people actually see when they look you up
  • Your own AI assistant answering questions about your business around the clock

Go Outside Before It Turns

Five sunny days in a row is not a thing this town gets in the back half of September very often. The quilting class and the paint night will run again. The 79-degree Friday on the water probably won’t. Plan accordingly, and if you spot something happening that isn’t on our calendar, send it our way โ€” that’s how this thing stays worth reading.

See you around town,
Ryan Williams
