September Doesn’t Slow Down — and the Calendar Proves It
Here is the thing nobody tells you about September in the Town of Babylon: it does not slow down. The beach crowds thin out, the buses come back, and then the calendar quietly fills up with the best weekend programming of the entire year.
A three-day family festival at Tanner Park. The Beautification Society’s Annual Fair at Argyle. A free Central American Independence Day festival on the barrier beach. The 9·11 memorial service in Amityville. A villagewide garage sale, a pumpkin festival, a beer and wine fest at Tanger, four Saturday farmers markets, and more free library programming than any month this year.
140 events. One month. One town. Here is the whole thing.

⭐ Featured September Events
🎉 Long Island Family Festival
Friday–Sunday, September 25–27 · Tanner Park, Copiague
Three days at Tanner Park and comfortably the biggest thing on the September calendar. Music, food and a full family programme running all weekend, with The Soul Jam Revue taking the stage Saturday night. Free, family, and the sort of thing the Town does properly.
🎒 Annual Fair at Argyle Park
Saturday, September 12 · Argyle Park, Babylon Village
The Babylon Beautification Society’s annual fair comes back to Argyle Park — crafts, vendors, food and the lake. One of the longest-running community days in the Village. Rain date is September 20.
🇩 Central American Independence Day Festival
Sunday, September 13, 10 AM–5 PM · Overlook Beach · FREE
A free cultural festival on the barrier beach hosted by the Salvadoran American Chamber of Commerce — music, food and dance marking Central American independence. Overlook Beach in September, which is the best time to be there.
🕯 Village of Amityville 9·11 Memorial Service
Friday, September 11, 4:30 PM · 9-11 Memorial Plaza, Amityville
Twenty-five years. The Village gathers at the Fire Department’s memorial plaza. Short, and the one thing on this list that is not optional.
🎃 Pumpkin Festival & Family Fun Day
Sunday, September 20 · Overlook Beach
The first properly autumn thing on the calendar. Pumpkins, a craft fair and a family day out on the water before the beach closes for the season.
🍺 Long Island Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest
Saturday, September 26, 1–4 PM · Tanger Outlets, Deer Park
Three hours, one wristband, a great many tastings. Tanger’s big autumn event.
🏃 3rd Annual KiDS NEED MoRE 5K
Saturday, September 12, 9 AM · Belmont Lake State Park
A 5K run/walk plus a quarter-mile kids’ fun run around Belmont Lake, benefiting KiDS NEED MoRE. Run it, walk it, or bring a folding chair and cheer.
🏪 Amityville Village Garage Sale
Saturday, September 12, from 8 AM · villagewide
The entire village puts its driveway up for sale on the same morning. Bring small bills, comfortable shoes and a realistic assessment of how much furniture fits in your car.
⛳ Charity Golf Outing
Monday, September 14, 8 AM · Bergen Point Golf Course
The first annual outing benefiting the Babylon St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Eighteen holes on the water for a parade that has been part of this town for decades.
🎸 “Four Way Street” Back To The Argyle
Sunday, September 13, 2 PM · The Argyle Theatre
A Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute on the Argyle’s main stage. A Sunday matinee, which is the civilised way to see a rock show.
🝋 Hike and Paddle — Babylon
Sunday, September 20, 8 AM · Argyle Park
ADK Long Island runs a five-mile hike followed by 60–90 minutes on the water. Bring your own kayak.
🏢 Founding Icon — the Price Goes Back Up on Labor Day
If you run a business in this town, this is worth two minutes before the week is out. Founding Listings are open at $299/yr instead of $499 — and the Founder’s Sale ends Labor Day, Monday September 7.
A Founding Icon listing puts you in front of the people already reading this calendar every week: premium visibility across the events site, the Babylon Local directory and this guide. There are only 100 Founding Icon spots, and founding pricing is locked for as long as you keep the listing.

📢 Introducing the Babylon Local Event Network
Where Babylon’s events — and the people who make them happen — come together.
Every week this calendar promotes hundreds of organizers who have no idea we are promoting them. We are fixing that.
If you run events in Babylon Town — a library, a chamber, a venue, a club, a fundraiser, a band — you can claim your listing and become a Verified Event Partner. It costs nothing. You get your events onto the calendar faster, a say in how they are presented, and a direct line to the Babylon Local Event Desk.
Free promotion has always been the deal here. This just makes it a relationship instead of a one-way street.
