The Town of Babylon kicked off its 19th Annual Soldier Ride with an opening ceremony at Babylon Town Hall honoring wounded veterans — and presenting the largest donation in the event’s history, more than $200,000, to the Wounded Warrior Project.
19 Years of Riding for Veterans
Supervisor Rich Schaffer and the Babylon Town Board joined Wounded Warrior Project CEO Walt Piatt, WWP alumnus and retired U.S. Marine Corps veteran Juan Valdez, and SkyHope’s Donna Collins and Risa Price for a ceremony featuring the Saffron United Pipe Band, recognition of the event’s top fundraisers, and a blessing of the riders before they departed Town Hall under police escort.
For nearly two decades, Babylon has partnered with Wounded Warrior Project to raise critical funds supporting programs and services for wounded veterans — and this year’s milestone donation marks the biggest yet.
