This Memorial Day, communities across the United States will come together to remember and honor those brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our nation. As part of the extended weekend celebrations, a variety of services, parades, and ceremonies will be held throughout our Town of Babylon here on Long Island. Residents and visitors are encouraged to take time out of their holiday weekend to pay respects to those men and women who have gone before us, honoring their sacrifices for our freedoms so that we can live in the greatest country in the world.

Town-by-Town Observances
Amityville
In Amityville, a 10 am service will be held at the Amityville Village Gazebo at Park Ave and Broadway. The Village of Amityville, VFW Post 7223, and American Legion Post 1218 will jointly sponsor this service.
Babylon
In Babylon, the Memorial Day parade will commence at 11 am at Foster Blvd. and Deer Park Ave. The parade will proceed towards the gazebo across from Argyle Park, where the American Legion Post 94 will sponsor a service at the end of the parade.
Copiague
Copiague’s Memorial Day observance will begin at 10 am with a parade from Gateway Park at Dixon Ave and Great Neck Road. The parade will then march to Great Neck Road School, where a service sponsored by the VFW Post 9482 will take place.
Deer Park
Deer Park’s observance will also begin at 10 am. The parade will start at West 22nd Street and Lake Ave, concluding at the Deer Park School District Administration Building on Rt.231. The VFW 5348 post and the Deer Park Fire Dept. will hold a service there.
East Farmingdale
East Farmingdale Fire House on Conklin Street and East Carmans Rd will be the site of an 8 am Memorial Day observance sponsored by the East Farmingdale Fire Department.
Farmingdale
At 10 am, a parade will depart from Northside Elementary School, heading south on Main Street to the Village Green. A ceremony hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 516, VFW Auxiliary Post 516, and the American Legion will then take place on the Village Green.
Lindenhurst
Lindenhurst will have a Veterans Council Ceremony at Breslau Cemetery and a Lindenhurst Fire Department Ceremony at Fireman’s Memorial Park, both starting at 10:00am. Following the ceremonies, the parade will begin at 11:00am, culminating at the Village Square Park/Gazebo on the corner of North Wellwood and East Hoffman Avenues for the Village Ceremony at approximately 12 noon.
North Babylon
North Babylon’s parade will kick off at 10 am from the corner of Garnet and Rt.231, marching to the American Legion Memorial at Phelps Lane Park. The North Babylon Fire Dept. and the American Legion will jointly sponsor a memorial service.
West Babylon
West Babylon’s parade will begin at 10 am at Arnold Ave and Rt 109, heading to the American Legion Sgt. John Sardiello Post 1634. Services will be held at the post memorial at 10 Bruce Street.
Wyandanch
At 10 am, a service will be held at the George Simms Plaza, sponsored by the Wyandanch Memorial VFW Post 361.
As we honor these heroes on Memorial Day 2023, let’s not forget the sacrifices they made. It’s a poignant reminder of the courage and commitment required to preserve the liberties we enjoy today. Let their memory inspire us to make our own contributions towards peace and freedom.
