Let Freedom Ring, Y’all: Babylon’s July 2026 Guide to America’s 250th Birthday Bash
We The People (Yes, You) Are Cordially Summoned to the Best Month of Summer
When in the course of local events it becomes necessary for one town to throw the biggest birthday party in 250 years, Babylon steps up. This July, the United States turns the big 2-5-0, and the Town of Babylon is marking the occasion with fireworks, free concerts, street fairs, a literal tree dedication, and enough live bands to soundtrack a Founding Father’s fever dream.
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all Babylonians are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable rights, and that among these are Life, Liberty, and a jam-packed events calendar. From Village Hall’s 100th anniversary on July 1 to a Fill the Boot night with a Billy Joel tribute band on July 29, this month is stacked. Grab the sunscreen, grab the lawn chairs, and let’s get free — as in freedom, and also as in most of what’s below costs zero dollars.

The Village of Babylon Turns 100 (Years, Not Degrees)

Location: Babylon Village Hall, 153 W. Main Street, Babylon
In order to form a more perfect ribbon-cutting, the Village of Babylon is celebrating a full century of Village Hall standing at 153 W. Main Street. Expect guided tours, history on display, a meet-and-greet with village staff, and — per official proclamation — actual cake. It’s basically a birthday party for a building, and honestly, more buildings should get this treatment.
Mamma Mania Kicks Off Free Summer Concerts (Founding Fathers Never Had ABBA)
Date: Wednesday, July 1 @ 7:00 pm
Location: Tanner Park
The Town of Babylon’s Free Summer Concert Series opens strong with Mamma Mania, The American Tribute to ABBA. It’s free, it’s outdoors, and it’s the official kickoff to a summer’s worth of concert nights at Tanner Park — bring a chair, bring the family, and prepare to know every word.
The Amityville Street Fair – A July 3rd Celebration
Date: Friday, July 3 @ 5:00–10:30 pm
Location: Downtown Amityville, Broadway & Park Avenue
‘Tis the party before Independence Day. The Amityville Chamber of Commerce throws down with a vendor and artisan bazaar, a kids’ funzone with giant slides and a rock wall, live music from a mobile stage, and twelve of Long Island’s best food trucks. Admission is free; the fried food is not, but that’s a small price for liberty.
July 4th Fireworks Cruise (Because Watching From a Boat Just Hits Different)
Date: Saturday, July 4 @ 7:30–11:00 pm
Location: Moon Chaser Bay Tours
Skip the parking scramble and watch Grucci’s Great South Bay fireworks extravaganza from the water aboard The Moon Chaser. There’s a DJ, a cash bar, and unbeatable front-row seats to the best light show this side of 1776.
Lindenhurst Liberty Day: America’s 250th, Live and In Costume
Date: Saturday, July 11 @ 12:00–5:00 pm
Location: Village Square, Lindenhurst
We hold this event to be self-evident: it’s the centerpiece of the month. Lindenhurst goes all in on America’s 250th with a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, a George Washington costume contest, a Revolutionary War exhibit from NYS Parks, a “Colonial Crawl” walking history tour through downtown (the first 250 attendees get a commemorative sash), and a closing concert in the Village Square. Costumes encouraged — come dressed as your favorite decade.
America 250 Commemorative Tree Dedication & Community Celebration
Date: Saturday, July 11 @ 3:00–5:00 pm
Location: Argyle Square, 175 W Main St, Babylon
The Village of Babylon Historical & Preservation Society and the Babylon Beautification Society are planting a legacy, literally: a Red Oak tree and bronze plaque go in at Argyle Square to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, with remarks, commemorative giveaways, and complimentary refreshments. A tree that’ll outlive all of us, dedicated to the country that hopefully does too.
America’s 250th Parking Lot Party (American Legion Post #94)
Date: Sunday, July 12 @ 1:00–6:00 pm
Location: American Legion Post #94, 22 Grove Place, Babylon
Food, fun, and freedom — that’s the actual tagline. American Legion Post #94 hosts a free, open-to-the-public bash with live music, food trucks, a kid zone, face painters, a military vehicle showcase, a car show, and corn hole, with all proceeds benefiting veterans organizations. Rain date is July 26, but the Founding Fathers didn’t quit when things got soggy, and neither should you.
Wednesdays on Wellwood: Lindenhurst’s Summer Street Festival
Date: Wednesday, July 15 @ 4:00–9:00 pm
Location: Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst
One hundred-plus vendors. Three bandstands. A Kidz Corner. The Lindenhurst Chamber of Commerce’s signature summer street festival turns Wellwood Avenue into a full block of food, shopping, and live music, featuring Social Gold, Ready in 10, and Radioactive. Rain date is July 22 — book it in either way.
Babylon Block Party
Date: Thursday, July 16 @ 5:00–9:00 pm
Location: Deer Park Avenue, Babylon Village
The Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce takes over Deer Park Avenue for an evening of live music, food trucks, a kid zone, and shop-local energy. Consider it a warm-up lap before Wellwood’s bigger festival the week before, or just a great excuse for a Thursday night out.
Great South Bay Music Festival (Four Days, One Legendary Lineup)
Date: Thursday, July 23 – Sunday, July 26
Location: Shorefront Park, Patchogue, NY
Not technically in Babylon, but firmly on every Babylonian’s radar: four days of The Used, Sublime, Gov’t Mule, Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers, My Morning Jacket, Little Feat, and dozens more across rock, reggae, jam, and blues. Tickets are on sale now — plan your July 4th recovery accordingly.
The Lords of 52nd Street: A Fill the Boot Finale
Date: Wednesday, July 29 @ 7:00 pm
Location: Tanner Park
Legends of the Billy Joel Band close out most of the Free Summer Concert Series’s patriotic run (Zac Brown and the Gazebo series carry us to July 31) with a special “Fill the Boot” night supporting the Town of Babylon Fire Chiefs’ Relief Fund. Bring cash for the boot and your best “Uptown Girl” harmonies.
