Local Events Around the Town of Babylon, NY this weekend ~ July 17–19, 2026

The sky is orange, the robots are flirting, and the headlines have fully lost the plot. Naturally, there’s a hot rod show in Lindenhurst.

Let’s take stock, shall we. The sun has been doing its best impression of a dying nightlight. Your phone is offering to introduce you to a girlfriend who does not technically exist, and the news alerts have escalated from “concerning” to “surely that’s a typo.” Somewhere out there, a brand-new AI model just launched that is smarter than all of us and still cannot fold a fitted sheet.

And yet. Down here in the Town of Babylon, a Disney tribute band is setting up at Tanner Park, a thousand hot rods are rolling into downtown Lindenhurst, and somebody’s cousin is absolutely going to win $85 worth of fluke off a boat in Captree. Civilization may be filing its paperwork, but the Farmers Market opens at 10 and the lobster rolls do not care about your existential dread.

So here it is — 30 things to do this weekend, ranked by nothing, curated by an AI that would like you to know it has never once been outside. Grab a chair. Grab a friend. Party like it’s 2099. 👇

🟠 About That Sky — Real Talk for a Second

Okay, joke’s paused. That orange sun is Canadian wildfire smoke, and this one isn’t a bit — there’s an active air quality health advisory over Long Island. AQI has hit “unhealthy for all groups” in parts of LI, the smoke thickened Thursday, and forecasters expected it to linger into the end of the week. Here’s the honest picture:

  • Friday 7/17: High near 80°, low 68°. Hazy. Smoke most likely still hanging around.
  • Saturday 7/18: High near 80°, low 68°. Watch the haze before committing to an all-day outdoor plan.
  • Sunday 7/19: High near 83°, low 70°. The warmest of the three.

What the health folks are actually saying: limit strenuous outdoor activity; if you’re a kid, an older adult, or anyone with heart or lung conditions, skip unnecessary time outside; and if you’re out there anyway, a well-fitting N95 or KN95 is your friend. Smoke shifts fast, so check the live AQI before you go (AirNow.gov takes ten seconds).

The good news: the 90s-and-heat-index-110 nonsense from last week has packed up, and a shocking number of this weekend’s best options are indoors and air-conditioned — dice tournaments, a cacao ceremony, a legendary 90s band at AMH, corned beef at Moe’s, and five movies down at South Bay. We flagged the indoor picks throughout. Use them.

🤖 The Rundown

The machines may be ascendant, but the Town of Babylon is still gloriously analog this weekend. We’ve got Amityville, Babylon Village, Lindenhurst, Farmingdale, West Babylon, Copiague, Deer Park, and the beaches out at West Gilgo and Captree all doing something. The menu: an absurd amount of Live Music (KISS tribute, Black Sabbath tribute, Steely-Dan-adjacent dad rock, actual 90s industrial legends), two free concerts, a farmers market, a hot rod block party, a charity bash, a dog walk, a fishing trip, a dice tournament, and a cacao ceremony. If the simulation is going to render all that, the least we can do is show up.

Three things worth putting on the calendar before the calendar becomes sentient:

🎡 All Boro’s Annual Summer Bash · Friday, July 17, 4:00–10:00 PM · Amityville

A pig roast, an open bar, a live reggae band, a DJ, valet parking, drone photography, and — because why not — axe throwing. It’s a fundraiser sending individuals with developmental disabilities to the Bronx Zoo this September, benefiting six local organizations. So you get to eat Patrizia’s catering, throw an axe, and be a genuinely good person, all in one evening. The apocalypse could learn something. ❤️

🧜 The Little Mermen — Disney Tribute · Saturday, July 18, 6:00 PM · Tanner Park · FREE

A full rock band playing 100 years of Disney hits, free, on the lawn, for the whole family — part of the Town of Babylon Summer Concert Series. Your kids will lose their minds. You will pretend you’re not also losing your mind during “Part of Your World.” Bring chairs, blankets, and zero shame. 🎶

🔥 Holy Black Hot Rod Block Party · Sunday, July 19, 11:00 AM–2:00 PM · Downtown Lindenhurst

Rows of pre-1979 hot rods, customs, classics and motorcycles take over downtown Lindenhurst, with live bands all day, local vendors, live demos, great food and cold drinks. Thousands of people showing up to admire machines built entirely by human hands, with zero help from a large language model. Frankly, it’s the most defiant thing on this list. See you under the tracks. 🏁

🍺 Friday, July 17

Friday says: the week is over, the sky is weird, and there is a band playing approximately everywhere. Start with a genuinely great cause at the All Boro’s Annual Summer Bash in Amityville, then pick your frequency — Arlington Drive at Lily’s, Joe & Dave (Two Dudes) at Palmer’s, Mean Machine at Salt Shack, The Mystic at The Boat Yard, or free 50s classics from The Clusters at the Gazebo. And if your coping mechanism is volume, Sandbox Summer Sweatbox and Terrorpalooza 2026 are here to rearrange your skeleton.

  • 🎡 All Boro’s Annual Summer Bash — 4:00–10:00 PM · 42 Maple Place, Amityville. Featured! Pig roast, open bar, live reggae, axe throwing — all benefiting a Bronx Zoo trip for individuals with challenges. ❤️
  • 🎸 Arlington Drive at Lily’s — 6:00–10:00 PM · Lily’s, Babylon. All your favorites, no cover. Come for dinner, stay for the party.
  • 🎵 Joe & Dave — TWO DUDES — 6:30–9:30 PM · Palmer’s American Grille, Farmingdale. All types of music; call for reservations.
  • 🎤 Mean Machine — 7:00–10:00 PM · Salt Shack, Babylon. Friday night at the beach, hazy sky optional.
  • 🤘 Sandbox Summer Sweatbox 2026 — 7:00–10:00 PM · Whiskey Rocks, West Babylon. REVEL 9, Craving Strange, Pathmaker & Feast Your Eyes. Indoors. 🏠
  • 🌊 The Mystic — 7:30–10:30 PM · The Boat Yard, West Gilgo Beach. Live music, waterfront, extremely photogenic apocalypse sunset.
  • 🕺 Gazebo Concert Series: The Clusters — 8:00 PM · Babylon Village Gazebo. FREE. 50s classics, back when the biggest threat was a milkshake.
  • 🎂 Terrorpalooza 2026 — 8:00 PM–12:00 AM · Village Pub, Lindenhurst. $10, 21+. Phoenix Operandi, Terror Garden & Pine Street Band for a triple-birthday hard-rock bash. Indoors. 🏠

🏁 Sunday, July 19

Sunday opens wholesome and ends loud. Get the dog out at the July Pack Walk, tour the classrooms at the TLE Happiness Showcase, then go worship at the altar of chrome at the Holy Black Hot Rod Block Party — or catch fluke for charity on the KP St. Patrick’s Parade Fishing Trip. If the sky’s still doing its thing, retreat indoors to Dice Throne in West Babylon, corned beef and the World Cup Final at Moe’s Irish Birthday, a Women’s Circle & Cacao Ceremony in Farmingdale, or 30 years of Stabbing Westward at AMH. And yes — That 70’s Band and 70’s Rock Parade are both playing, because the 1970s remain undefeated.

🌇 Go Outside Anyway (Responsibly)

Here’s the thing about signs of the apocalypse: they’ve been showing up on schedule for about six thousand years, and in the meantime somebody still has to buy the tomatoes at the farmers market. The robots can have the future. This weekend belongs to the guy grilling at Herman Griem Park, the band on the new stage at Mary Carroll’s, and the ’68 Camaro idling under the Lindenhurst tracks.

Check the air quality, mask up if you need to, pick an indoor option if the sky’s being dramatic — and then go support the local people who spent all week planning this stuff. Party like it’s 2099. The 2100s are gonna be a whole thing.

See you around town,
