Summer’s out here packin’ her bags and slammin’ doors — and honey, she is not going quietly.

Thirty-six events. Three days. One town. Fireworks over Amityville Beach, a literal So Long Summer Soirée in Deer Park, Carole King on the Argyle stage four separate times, and enough live bands to make Deer Park Ave sound like a music festival with a parking problem.

Now, I’m gonna be straight with you the way your aunt is straight with you, because I love you: Saturday’s got a 60% shot at thunderstorms after 5 PM. Right on top of the good stuff. We’re not gonna pretend otherwise and we’re not gonna cancel our whole personality over it either. Bring a poncho, check the sky, and know that I’ve stacked this guide with indoor backups that absolutely ate.

Sunday, though? Sunday shows up 81° and partly sunny like it didn’t do anything wrong. The audacity. We’re taking it anyway.

☀️ The Forecast (I Checked It Twice, Sugar)

  • Friday, Aug 21 — High 78°, mostly cloudy. A 30% sprinkle mainly before 11 AM, then it clears its throat and behaves. Evening’s perfectly fine.
  • Saturday, Aug 22 — High 76°. Showers likely, thunderstorms possible after 5 PM. 60% chance, a quarter to a half inch. That’s Beach Blast o’clock. Watch the radar before you load the car.
  • Sunday, Aug 23 — High 81°, partly sunny. A 30% chance of showers before 8 AM and again after 2 PM. This is the good day. Plan accordingly.

🗺️ The Rundown

Every village showed up this weekend and I do declare, they understood the assignment. Amityville is throwing fireworks and a street party and a farmers market and an emo night. Babylon Village has Carole King at the Argyle, a gazebo concert, and Sunday morning at the market. Deer Park is hosting the soirée that named this whole weekend. Lindenhurst has a farmers market and a beachside boogie. Copiague‘s got Tanner Park. West Gilgo has a band all three nights. Captree has a boat.

Categories, if you’re the sortin’ type: live music (eleven bands, minimum), fireworks, two farmers markets, professional theatre, children’s theatre, a tribute-band triple-header, a fitness class, a 21+ dance party, and about four different ways to end up with sand in your car. Free 99 on most of it.

🎆 Amityville Beach Blast & Fireworks

Saturday 8/22 · 5–9 PM · Amityville Beach / James A. Caples Memorial Park · Free
Fireworks over the water, live music from High Street from 5 to 8, and the entire village parked on a beach blanket. This is the one everybody circles. It’s also sitting directly under Saturday’s storm window, so keep one eye on the radar — but don’t you dare write it off early. A little Long Island drizzle never stopped anybody.

🌅 So Long Summer Soirée in Deer Park

Saturday 8/22 · 3–7 PM · Geiger Spray Park · Free
The event this whole weekend is named after, and frankly the mood of the entire month. Food, spray park, and the collective denial of thirty families who refuse to acknowledge that school is coming. Bless every one of them.

🎹 Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

Fri 7:30 PM · Sat 2:30 & 7:30 PM · Sun 2:00 PM · The Argyle Theatre, 34 W Main St, Babylon Village · Ticketed
Four chances, and one of them is a matinee on the exact afternoon it’s supposed to storm. That is not a coincidence, that is providence. Professional Broadway-caliber theatre eight minutes from your house — the rest of the country pays a train fare for this.

🎪 Fridays on the Greene — Amityville Street Party

Friday 8/21 · 6–10 PM · Greene Ave at Broadway · Free
Street closed, live band, vendors, and the Chamber tent doing its thing. One of the last ones of the season. Go be a person among people.

🌅 Friday, August 21

We ease in — but “easy” around here still means thirteen events and a whole street shut down for a band. Amityville closes Greene Ave for Fridays on the Greene at 6, the Village Gazebo hands the stage to 4 Ways from Sunday at 8, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical opens the weekend at the Argyle at 7:30. Meanwhile the water’s doing its thing — Lovesong at the Salt Shack, Vinyl Revival out at West Gilgo, a bay jam cruise leaving Captree at 8 — and Amityville Music Hall is running a Clash/Ramones/Sex Pistols tribute triple-header. Punk rock and a gazebo concert on the same night. We contain multitudes, sugar.

🎆 Saturday, August 22

Sixteen events and a sky with opinions, so front-load it: Amityville Farmers Market opens at 9, the Lindenhurst Farmers Market at 10, and Disney’s Finding Nemo JR at 10:30 for the little whippersnappers. Afternoon is the main event — the So Long Summer Soirée in Deer Park at 3, then the Amityville Beach Blast & Fireworks at 5 with High Street playing the sand — and if you want a parking spot you’d best get there early enough to say “good thing we got here when we did.” Now, the storms: we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it, but the dry backups are already lined up — Carole King at 2:30 and 7:30, Drop Dead Sexy at the Salt Shack, and Emo Night Brooklyn at 9.

🌤️ Sunday, August 23

Eighty-one and partly sunny, like Saturday never happened — the audacity. Start slow at the Babylon Village Farmers Market at 8 (and if you were out galavanting at Emo Night till midnight, well — you can’t cluck with the chickens if you’re hootin’ with the owls), then it’s the Argyle’s last call with Finding Nemo JR at 10:30 and the closing Carole King matinee at 2. By dinnertime the whole town turns into a bandstand — Mean Machine at the Salt Shack, Tiger Rose at Tanner Park, The Mystic out at West Gilgo, and the John Maurice Restrepo Jazz Quintet free at 6. Slow morning, live music by supper. That’s the whole assignment and it’s not that deep.

South Bay Cinemas

🎬 South Bay Cinemas — August 21–23, 2026

Saturday’s rain has to go somewhere, and I have a plan: air conditioning, a reclining seat, and unlimited free popcorn refills. Unlimited. I’m not going to keep saying it, but I want you to sit with it.

Five theaters, all renovated, digital projection and sound throughout, with luxury and VIP seating. It’s the good kind of movie theater — the kind where the seat leans back and nobody’s phone is out.

Now Go On, Get Out There

Thirty-six events, one moody Saturday, and a summer that’s clearly not ready to hand in her notice. You don’t need a flight. You don’t need a hotel. You need a folding chair, a light jacket, and somebody to tell you where to be — and honey, that’s what I’m here for.

Check the radar Saturday. Show up anyway. And Sunday, when it’s 81° and the jazz quintet starts up — you’ll be glad you stayed home. Bless it. 🌅

See you around town,
Ryan Williams
