Twenty-four events in the Town of Babylon between Friday morning and Sunday night. All but two of them are free, and the two that are not cost three dollars. Free.

And the weather has decided to cooperate for once: 83 and partly sunny Friday, 79 and mostly sunny Saturday, 73 and mostly sunny Sunday. A 20% chance of a shower Friday afternoon that nobody is going to notice. This is the forecast you spend all of August asking for and get exactly once.

Add Labor Day Monday and it is twenty-two events. Then the Village pool drains, the buses come back Tuesday, and that is the season. So this is it. This is the last clean run at summer, and the Town of Babylon has stacked the weekend almost entirely on the water.

The Rundown

Here is the shape of the weekend. It is almost entirely outdoors and almost entirely on the water.

Live music is carrying it — nine bands and DJs across three venues. Salt Shack has something going every single night. The Boat Yard out at West Gilgo has two. Tanner Park in Copiague has a free outdoor concert Sunday evening.

Farmers markets run all three days in three different villages: Amityville Saturday morning, Lindenhurst Saturday morning, and Babylon Village Sunday at the Gazebo.

The libraries keep their end up Friday — Lindenhurst Memorial and Wyandanch are running programming right through the holiday, including a free steel drum reggae band Friday night.

The libraries work the daytime, then the town moves to the water. Two library programs in the morning, then three things going after 4 PM — one of them a free steel drum reggae band.

Mostly sunny and 79. Two farmers markets in the morning, a DJ on the beach in the afternoon, two bands at night. You can do the entire day outside and never get in the car twice.
