Jack-O’-Lanterns Adrift, Trunks Creaking Open, and a Creepy Crawl. Enter If You Dare.

Gather ’round, boys and ghouls. It is the weekend before Halloween, and something has crept into the Town of Babylon. On Saturday, carved pumpkins are set adrift on Belmont Lake, a spooky house opens its doors to the little ones, and the trunks of Lindenhurst creak open. On Sunday, two more trunk-or-treats appear in Amityville and Deer Park, and the Creepy Crawl slithers through Babylon Village to a Monster Mash at the library. All weekend long, the Long Island Family Festival haunts Tanner Park. It was rescheduled, and it has returned. Halloween itself falls next Saturday. Consider this your warning.

A word on the weather, for those who venture out: the sun shines all weekend. Friday is 58°, with a northeast wind gusting to 23, so bring a jacket. Saturday is mostly sunny and 59°, and Sunday is sunny and 62°. The nights are clear and cold, about 41°. Perfect weather for jack-o’-lanterns.
